Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Children and infants experiencing respiratory failure, shock or cardiac arrest require specialized assessment and treatment. The Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course equips healthcare providers with the knowledge and skills to respond to these critical situations.

Course Overview

Our program follows American Heart Association guidelines and is designed for professionals who care for pediatric patients in emergency, intensive care and pre‑hospital settings.

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for:

  • Paramedics, nurses and physicians working in pediatric emergency departments, NICUs, PICUs and critical care transport
  • Respiratory therapists and physician assistants
  • Pediatric hospitalists and fellows
  • Healthcare providers in rural or community hospitals who may be called on to stabilize pediatric patients

Participants must hold current BLS certification and complete the online PALS pre‑course assessment.

What You'll Learn

During the PALS course you will learn to:

  • Recognize respiratory emergencies, shock and cardiopulmonary arrest in infants and children.
  • Perform high‑quality BLS skills for pediatric patients and integrate them into advanced care.
  • Use high‑performance team dynamics to improve outcomes.
  • Practice assessment, decision making and communication through case‑based scenarios and simulations.
  • Deliver post‑resuscitation care and debriefing.

Course Format & Length

  • Traditional classroom: A 4 hour refresher or 8 hour initial course using videos, skill stations and simulations.

Students receive the AHA PALS Provider Manual and access to practice scenarios. Successful participants earn a two‑year AHA PALS Provider e‑card, issued the same day.
